Halloween Trivia Contest & boating meeting

Prizes !!!

Q:  What mammal capable of flying is usually associated with Halloween?

Answer: The bat.

Q: Where does the term “jack o’lantern” come from?

A: The term is very closely connected to the Irish mythology of Stingy Jack, a drunken who makes a deal with Satan and is bound to wander the Earth with only a hollowed turnip to guide him.

Are you ready to come out and test your Halloween knowledge?  We have a fun night planned with 70 Halloween Trivia questions ready to test your knowledge.  But don’t think we are giving away any answers!

Park free in the large Ballard Elks parking lot. Drinks and food are available for purchase on the same level.

Happy Hour 7:00-7:30
Meeting starts at 7:30

Here are the Trivia Rules

  • Find the smartest friends you have, or hire someone to help you. It doesn't matter who they are, if you call them you're team, we won't judge you. You're more than welcome to play by yourself or create an impromptu team, just be sure your table has no more than 6 people.
  • There will be a series of about 7 “rounds” that involve 10 questions each per round.  Scoring occurs after each round.
  • If needed, there will be a tie-breaker question if needed. Then, the trivia champion is crowned
  • The answer format will be ‘pen and paper’.
  • No cell phones or any type of outside sources are allowed. Teams that are reported using any outside devices will be disqualified and become ineligible for any prizes. Remember, it is very, very LAME to cheat at trivia. BRAIN POWER ONLY!
  • Replacement of a team member is not allowed after the start of the game.  You can add team members if you do not have 6 before the start of the game.
  • Have fun!

Here is the Trivia Format:

  • Each team will choose a team name.
  • Each team receives a sheet for your answers at the beginning of each game and is just used to follow along and keep track of the rounds.
  • There will be 7 rounds with 1 bonus round if a tie occurs. Each round will have 10 questions.
  • The winner will be the team at the end of the 7 rounds (and bonus round if necessary,) with the most points. Each question will be worth 1 point; you must get the full answer for it to be considered correct. There will be approximately 1 minute per question.
  • There will be a 15 minute break after round 4.
  • At the end of each round indicator will be placed on the team which is in the lead and indicator will be placed on the team that has the lowest score.
