Another Goosebumps Race for the record books.  Lots of exciting wind and weather on the water today as well as some drama.  Necessary Evil ran aground at Gasworks Park while the committee boat drug anchor half way across the lake. We welcomed several new boats in this fourth round as well.  Our own Elly Cyre was out on her new boat with her daughter, the co-owner.  They ended after the first lap with some wheel issues.  This was a really fun one.

Today the CYC clubhouse made the voyage home from shipyard work.  There is still work to be done on the interior and that will begin very soon.  Congratulations CYC, quite the accomplishment.

It was a wet one this Sunday but what fun!  Goosebumps racers came out in great form and fortunately no collisions or drama, other than a lot of beautiful boats crossing the finish line. Our own Commodore was running the committee boat this Sunday and the 1958 Chris Craft - Stella, did a great job along with an amazing race committee.  Thank you Dan Kerns, Chris K, Robin C, and Tom Mc.  Troopers all!

The second of the series is complete and Goosebumps had 23 racers start on Sunday.  Congratulations to the winners of the event.  We have four races left in the series.  After a collision at the start of the race, Maestrale will be leaving the series for repairs.  Tom and crew are not expected back this year.

Today was a beautiful day on the water.  It wasn’t a windy day on the water.  There were thirty one boats that came out to race our first race of Goosebumps in 2021.  Its a wonderful thing to be able to enjoy one of the things we love most, especially now.

Congratulations on so many levels to those that turned out to race and those that turned out to support those that raced.  Nothing happens without volunteers and SSYC’s are some of the best. Hats off to Dan Kerns our Goosebumps Race Chair.

    Go Goosebumps 2021!!!

On December 3rd,  artistic (and some not so artistic) SSYC peeps got together via zoom under the instruction of famed artist, Sarah Elizabeth (of Mona Roach wine glass painting party fame).  The objective was to paint holiday ornaments and enjoy each other over libations.  By all accounts this event was nothing but fun.  Thank you Sarah - its always a pleasure.

The first ever SSYC Socially distanced holiday Ornament Swap, went brilliantly, no doubt due in great part to the efforts of volunteers, Lisa Chilson and Brett Smith.  It was a lot of work to put a new ornament under the tree but about 20 folks came out to swap ornaments in a C19 compliant style.  Ahhh the logistics involved! Kudos to the new Member at Large (Ginnie Phillips) for her first event and before her term even begins.

At the November 30th General Meeting, SSYC’s first ever Skipper Emeritus Award was presented to our member #221, Michael Brough. Mike was presented with a plaque and an appreciation book for his amazing contribution to SSYC over the last several decades.  You can find Mike at captmike.com, offering his wit and wisdom to suspecting and unsuspecting boater alike.  Always a calm in the storm, Mike has meant everything to the club and we look forward to many more years of Mike in our midst.  Mike received his plaque, book, bakery cookies and new SSYC mask this week via personal delivery from our Fleet Captain, Lee Stenson.

Thank you to all the racers and crew who joined us on Saturday, September 26, 2020 for our Race to Fight Hunger for Northwest Harvest!

It was a beautiful day on Shilshole Bay as our participants showed their stuff racing around the Rock (Blakely Rock for the rookies). Congratulations to our own Mike and Kris Sinclair who placed second in their category.

Racers received Skipper Bags containing fun and nautical surprises. We weren’t able to have our Dante’s catered beer and dog “after party” but skipper and crew received their $10 gift certificates for Little Coney to have their own after party whenever they can make it happen.

We are excited to announce that overall we have raised over $11,350 for Northwest Harvest's efforts to fight hunger in Washington state (and the year isn’t over yet).

Congratulations to the 2020 race winners! Our hats go off to all racers and volunteers. Even in the face of great challenges you came out to make it happen and that is something we can all be proud of!

Special thanks to Kathy Oman for her beautiful photos of the race.
